FEM SIMULATIONS AND EXPERIMENTAL VALIDATION OF FREQUENCY RESPONSE PREDICTION FOR ACOUSTIC SOUNDBOARDS

This paper presents FEM models of acoustic soundboards, including a simplified rectangular plate and an acoustic guitar soundboard. The study validates the models through experimental measurements. Results indicate that FEM modeling and measurement systems can optimize workflow in instrument manufacturing. The research investigates the importance of wood's anisotropic properties in simulations and its impact on designing bracing patterns and analyzing resonances. The paper also explores alternative bracing patterns and their impact on instrument performance. Future research aims to include the guitar’s body in the model and to improve the accuracy of the predictions.
