Fusion Energy consultation

UK Government are consulting on a draft National Policy Statement for fusion energy infrastructure for England and Wales

Fusion Energy consultation

Fusion energy has the potential to be a transformative source of clean and abundant energy. The development of the UK fusion energy sector will strengthen long-term energy security and deliver significant economic benefits.

UK Government are consulting on a draft National Policy Statement for fusion energy infrastructure for England and Wales, aiming to align fusion with other energy generating technologies by streamlining and centralising decision-making on planning proposals. The draft EN-8 sits within the suite of low carbon infrastructure under the Overarching National Policy Statement for Energy (EN-1), providing additional, targeted policy to address the specific characteristics of fusion energy generation. Potential local noise and vibration impacts are acknowledged in the draft.

The consultation is open until August 17th.
